agglomeration technology, chemical synthesis of supramolecular organic compounds sensors on a supramolecular organic basis, supermicrocalorimetric sensor systems; photovoltaic silicon; III-V compound semiconductors for micro- and optoelectronics; sensor systems for measurement technologies in the environmental sector; ion-conductive ceramic materials; automation solutions for process engineering and manufacturing processes
- Mechanical engineering / process engineering: calculation, design and planning of machinery and plants; strength, tribology, abrasion; drive technology; flow acoustics; automation technologies; mechanical, thermal, chemical process engineering; investigation with mechanical and process engineering techniques for cutting materials; safety systems; model development and numeric simulation of principles for process engineering
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) addresses all relevant processes along the complete value-added raw materials chain (exploration, extraction, processing, refining/ finishing and recycling). The strategic innovation approach is based on interconnectedness from the theoretical foundations to laboratory experiments all the way to large-scale pilot plants meeting industrial standards.
Within this scope a special focus lies on integrated approaches to materials and energy research, leading to specific orientations in the fields of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
In the field of materials development TUBAF offers a unique innovation chain in relation to its bandwidth and internal integrity: mineralogy – crystallography – crystal physics – crystal chemistry - materials sciences – materials technology. Accordingly all relevant development and assessment methods of innovative energy storage technologies needed for development and application are available. Individual materials and technologies as well as their interplay are at the core of this. TUBAF has at its disposal the required infrastructure, the expertise, as well as the possibilities for modelling, synthesis and characterisation across scales.
