Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen BernetOffer
research category: engineering science
research discipline: electrical engineering
The area of power electronics at the ETI (Electrotechnical Institute, Dresden University of Technology) deals with the knowledge and experience from different areas of power electronics. Some specific points of research are: development of new topologies and general design methods for electronic ballast up to 2.5 MHz, for power resonant converters for high voltage generation, for medium voltage applications (series connection of individual elements, mulit-level technique, power loss calculations), for UPS, also for pulsed grid-connected converters and railway systems of all kinds including the control of modern magnetic railway drives. Additionally, field-oriented control of compact drives and statistical analysis of aperiodic properties of power electronic topologies.
research focus:
- Application of conventional and new power electronic devices
- System integration
- Electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps
- Parameter identification for drive systems
- Flatness based control of power electronic topologies
research subjects:
- Flatness based control of modern power electronic systems
- Electrical/electronic concept for an integrated threshing drive
- Alternative topology concepts for pulsed mode operationof dielectric disabled discharging for efficient generation of excimer radiation
- LED based light systems for railway and other applications
- Parameter correction/parameter control of transmission line model for drive current control of the transrapid
- Thermodynamic current limitation of switch mode power supplies
- Power electronic applications in high voltage test engineering systems
