Dresden plant became part of the Menarini Group in May 2006.
The plant has 260 employees and is entirely dedicated to the manufacturing and packaging of oral solid products. The Menarini Group is implementing an investment program for over 30 million Euros which, starting from 2008, will give the plant a bulk production capacity of over 2000 tons, corresponding to approximately 9 billion units.
Dresden plant will meet the manufacturing needs of the Menarini Group and will especially supply Eastern Europe markets. From March 9th, 2007, after over half a century, Dresden plant has been given back its historical name, Von Heyden, after Friedrich Von Heyden, who founded the factory at the end of XIX century. He realized here, in collaboration with Hermann Kolbe, the first industrial scale pharmaceutical synthesis in the world, the salicylic acid, from which the acetylsalicylic acid was lately developed and sold with the brand-name Acetylin starting from 1897.
The decision to give back to the Dresden plant the name of its founder is part of a logic that Menarini adopted in order to strengthen the historical identity of the Group’s companies preserving their distinctive characteristics and reinforce their human and technological know-how through heavy investments leaving full decisional autonomy to the local company managements: this is the winning strategy the Menarini Group has adopted in its internationalization.
